Missoula County's tracking mechanism for legislation proposed at the 64th session of the Montana Legislature.
Sent the following to Reps. Dudik and Tschida,Missoula County opposes HB 636 – Require legislative approval for acceptance of federal assistance – before House Appropriations this afternoon. HB 636 creates an additional layer of bureaucracy, removing local control to a critical source of revenue. Under HB 636 local governments would no longer be able to apply for federal grant assistance, which, for example, was used to offset more than $1 million of construction costs of the Missoula County Emergency Operations Center. In other cases, the State of Montana would act as the pass through agency for grants that provide needed resources for emergency responders, health departments and medical clinics. HB 636 would limit the availability of these funds in years when the legislature is not in session. Please oppose HB 636.Respectfully, Vickie Zeier on behalf of the Missoula County Commissioners
