LC0824
Keith Regier
Extend sunset on enhanced 9-1-1 fund distribution

  1. Chris Lounsbury's comment on 12/23: "we will want to follow it during the session. Current law has 9-1-1 funds split with 84% returning to counties based on population and 16% used to insure that counties with 1% of the population or less receive a base amount of funding. This law was set to sunset in 2015, so it does have a potential impact on the funding Missoula County receives. We would generally support this bill, believing that all counties and their citizens need access to 9-1-1 but if the bill changes as it works through the process that position could change."

  2. Sent to Representatives Steenberg, Moore, and Person:

    Representative Steenberg,
Missoula County supports House Bill 112 – Extend sunset on enhanced 9-1-1 fund distribution before House Federal Relations, Energy and Telecommunications this afternoon. HB 112 ensures that counties with less than one percent of the population receive critical funding for 9-1-1 services. Missoula County recognizes that our citizens travel the state and the availability of 9-1-1 service should be a certainty. Please support HB 112.
    Respectfully,
Vickie Zeier on behalf of the Missoula County Commissioners
