    Representative

Missoula County supports House Bill 7 – Provide for reclamation and development grants - on the House Floor this afternoon. HB 7 includes funding for reclamation projects for Martina and Ninemile Creeks and aquatic invasive species control. The Ninemile watershed has been identified in local and regional restoration plans due to the scale of disturbance across the landscape and the need for restoration. This funding would be used to reclaim the mining impacts and restore the stream and floodplain functions on Martina and Ninemile Creeks. The project will directly benefit Montana citizens by improving natural resources, water quality, public safety, recreation, and the local economy. HB 7 also provides funding to DNRC that is allocated to county agencies, watershed groups, lakeside Homeowner’s Associations, and other interested groups to survey, monitor and control aquatic invasive species. Please support HB 7 and the Missoula County projects provided therein.

    Respectfully,

Vickie Zeier on behalf of the Missoula County Commissioners
