  1. Sent to Reps on the House Floor:

Missoula County respectfully opposes HB 395 - Revise laws and rules related to public swimming pools and spas, on the House floor this afternoon. HB 395 would make it impossible to enforce federal safety requirements such as the Virginia Graeme Baker Act, which insures that pools have safe drains preventing swimmers from becoming trapped on the pool floor. Water features in public use are continually evolving, not all needed safety features are known at the time of construction, limiting the ability of local government to require updates when businesses do planned remodels, hinders the ability of local government to insure public safety. We need to keep the law as it is in order to address serious safety problems when they occur. Please oppose HB 395.
