HB 183

LC1357
Forrest Mandeville
Revise annexation laws related to parks

3 comments:

  1. Sent the following to Representatives McConnell, Schwaderer, Steenberg and Wilson:

Missoula County supports House Bill 183 - Revise annexation laws related to parks, before House Local Government this afternoon, but would seek an amendment that would require annexation of county park land when adjacent land is being annexed. Missoula County has approximately ten parks that are wholly or partially surrounded by the city. We are required to maintain those parks and enforce violations - encroachments by city residents - meet city boulevard regulations, shovel sidewalks, and offer consistency in public safety dispatch issues. We suggest that annexed county parkland be transferred to the municipality if the county determines that municipal ownership better serves the constituents of the surrounding neighborhoods. Please support HB 183 with this modification.
    Respectfully,
Vickie Zeier on behalf of the Missoula County Commissioners
